Messi había viajado desde Argentina a la ciudad emiratí para estar presente en la ceremonia.
“Es muy bonito recibir estos galardones, pero siempre digo que el colectivo es lo que lo hace posible”, afirmó la ‘Pulga’, citado en la página web de su equipo.

“Ha sido un año extraordinario y me quedo con todo el año que ha hecho el FC Barcelona”, añadió.
Por su parte, Josep Maria Bartomeu, máximo dirigente del equipo azulgrana, fue elegido como mejor presidente y el FC Barcelona se llevó los premios a mejor club y a club más mediático.
“Es difícil ganar todo lo que hemos ganado y agradezco el esfuerzo de jugadores y técnicos, y el apoyo de nuestros aficionados”, dijo Bartomeu.
El Barcelona ganó cinco títulos en este 2015: la Liga española, la Copa del Rey, la Liga de Campeones, la Supercopa de Europa y el Mundial de Clubes. Sólo se le escapó la Supercopa de España, perdida ante el Athletic de Bilbao.
Por su parte, Messi aspirará el 11 de enero en Zúrich a recibir su quinto Balón de Oro a mejor futbolista del año. Es finalista para el máximo reconocimiento individual de este deporte, junto a su compañero brasileño Neymar (Barcelona) y al portugués Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).
Como mejor entrenador fue premiado el seleccionador belga Marc Wilmots y el Benfica portugués fue reconocido como el club con mejor escuela de formación.
El italiano Andrea Pirlo y el inglés Frank Lampard fueron premiados por el conjunto de sus carreras.
