Miles de ciudadanos y reyes europeos despiden a Miguel I de Rumanía (fotos)

Decenas de miles de rumanos se despidieron hoy en Bucarest de Miguel Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, el último rey de Rumanía fallecido el pasado 5 de diciembre a los 96 años tras una larga enfermedad.

Los actos fúnebres del día comenzaron con una breve misa en el Salón del Trono con la presencia de representantes de diez casas reales, así como el presidente y primer ministro rumanos, Klaus Iohannis y Mihai Tudose, respectivamente.

Entre la realeza se encontraban los reyes eméritos de España Juan Carlos y Sofía; los reyes de Suecia, Carlos Gustavo y Silvia; el príncipe Carlos de Gales; Ana María de Grecia; y la princesa Muna de Jordania, entre otros.

Posteriormente, en la plaza del Palacio Real se celebró otra ceremonia religiosa y militar a la que asistieron decenas de miles de ciudadanos.

Luego, el cortejo fúnebre marchó a paso lento ante la atenta mirada de decenas de miles de personas que lanzaron flores al paso del vehículo que transportaba el féretro con los restos mortales del antiguo soberano hacia la Catedral del Patriarcado.

Allí se celebró un funeral de Estado oficiado por el patriarca de la Iglesia ortodoxa rumana Daniel.

Después, el ataúd fue trasladado hacia la estación de ferrocarriles de Baneasa, desde donde partió en el tren real hacia Curtea de Arges, a 155 kilómetros de la capital rumana.

En la Nueva Catedral Ortodoxa de esta localidad se oficiará esta tarde sobre las 17.00, hora local, otra misa y se procederá al entierro en el Mausoleo real, donde ya reposa Ana de Borbón-Parma, esposa del ex monarca, fallecida en agosto de 2016.

Miguel Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, que reinó entre 1927 y 1930 y, luego, entre 1940 y 1947, cuando fue forzado a abdicar por el régimen comunista, no pudo regresar a Rumanía hasta 1997, ocho años después de la caída de la dictadura comunista.
