El régimen sirio llevó a cabo este lunes nuevos y cruentos bombardeos en Guta oriental, pese a que la ONU exige la aplicación inmediata de una tregua para detener el baño de sangre en este feudo rebelde a las puertas de Damasco. AFP

Los bombardeos aéreos, iniciados el 18 de febrero contra este último bastión insurgente cerca de la capital siria, parecen haberse reducido en intensidad, aunque ha habido acusaciones de uso de armas químicas, con 14 casos de asfixia.





En Guta oriental las dramáticas escenas se repiten a diario.

Familias enteras están refugiadas en sótanos para escapar al diluvio de fuego, mientras los socorristas apenas dan abasto, y los heridos, entre ellos muchos niños, ocupan las escasas camas de atiborrados hospitales.

En las calles, las fachadas de los edificios, algunos de varios pisos de altura, parecen destripadas, mientras que las calles están repletas de escombros y restos calcinados de automóviles.

 

Un médico que trató a los pacientes, el doctor Yaacub, indicó que había “sospechas de uso de armas químicas, probablemente un ataque con gas de cloro”.

Según él, “un olor a cloro” salía de la “ropa y de la piel de los pacientes” que padecieron “dificultades respiratorias e irritaciones a nivel de los ojos y la piel”

Pero el ministerio de Defensa ruso inmediatamente señaló a los insurgentes, afirmando que previeron “recurrir a sustancias tóxicas para acusar a las fuerzas gubernamentales de utilizar armas químicas contra la población civil” según un comunicado.

Las impactantes fotos también muestran a los niños y bebés jadeando por aire y usando aparatos de respiración en un hospital improvisado.
